Grand Theft Auto 2 for the original PlayStation was one of my favorite games, and the PC version (which has a night-mode, as well) is now available as a free download for Windows via Rockstar Classics!
Back then, the series was way more silly, but a couple of noticeable things carried-over to the newer games:
- Grand Theft Auto III has “Chatterbox FM” for loony talk radio, but GTA 2 had more audio ridiculousness such as commercials for drugs, whacko DJs, and a dedicated button to be able to burp/fart while walking around. (… GTA 3 left the latter feature out.) 😅
- GTA 3 was also the last game of the series to have specifically-zoned residential, commerical, and industrial areas as seen in previous games. 📊🤔
One of the DJs in particular used to drop one particularly memorable and humerous song by “Rev. Rooney, & The Rocksta Choir” called “God Bless All The Universe,” which went:
Look to the blue sky
And raise your hands high
And pray for love at your feetJesus my saviour…
My favorite flavour!
… 🤣, 🤣, 🤣! What a ridiculous song, haha. — I think since the game is available as a free download now, I can share the song here as an MP3, as well? 😅
Anyway, check the older games in the series out! They're 2D (bird's eye view), but still really fun, and paved the way for what we have now.
